Widex Hearing Aids
Founded in Denmark in 1956, Widex began as a family owned business and is now the sixth largest hearing aid manufacturer in the world. Best known for the “Widex Sound,” Widex hearing aids give wearers the experience of a full spectrum of sounds, from quiet whispers to voices in a crowd. Widex is committed to developing digital technology which has led to advances such as the world’s first digital in-the-ear hearing aid and revolutionary wireless technology. In 2012, Widex received the European Inventor Award for their work in advancing hearing aid technology.
UNIQUE Hearing Aids
UNIQUE hearing aids provider wearers with a wider sound picture to hear both soft and loud sounds in comfort; a powerful sound reduction system to support speech in windy environments; and an automatic detection of the listening environment to ensure that wearers hear the right sound at the right time. UNIQUE hearing aids have wireless capability to connect to smartphones using the COM-DEX app. Through this app, UNIQUE wearers may also control the volume and program features. UNIQUE hearing aids are available in the following styles: completely-in-canal micro, completely-in-canal, in-the-ear, receiver-in-canal, and behind-the-ear.
SUPER Hearing Aids
For those who experience hearing loss that ranges from degrees of severe to profound, Widex offers the SUPER hearing aid. This super-power hearing aid provides wearers with enhanced clarity, capturing a full spectrum of sound from 360 degrees in any noise environment. SUPER gives wearers a better localization of speech, whether the speaker is behind you, or you are having a conversation in a noisy environment. With a long battery life and weather resistant coating, the SUPER can be worn in many different environments.
DREAM Hearing Aids
DREAM hearing aids are exactly like their name: providing dream sound for those with hearing loss. As a fully digital device, DREAM offers an ultra-fast operating system that processes sound clearly from the wearer’s environment to give a true-to-life sound that is richer, more detailed, and well-rounded. The DREAM allows wearers to hear sounds without distortion, recognize speech in noisy situations, and listen to music with enhanced features. DREAM has been found to improve speech recognition by 21% in loud noise. DREAM is available in the following styles: completely-in-canal micro, completely-in-canal, in-the-ear, receiver-in-canal, and behind-the-ear.
ZEN Tinnitus Therapy
Tinnitus appears in 90% of hearing loss cases. Tinnitus, a “ringing of the ears,” is a frustrating condition in which people experience sounds without the presence of an external stimulus. Tinnitus may have many causes, and it is often treated with sound therapy features available on hearing aids.
Widex offers one of the leading tinnitus therapy systems: ZEN Tinnitus Therapy. ZEN consists of four steps, which are used in conjunction: 1) counseling – to educate and assist the limbic system to alter its negative interpretation of tinnitus via cognitive and behavioral intervention; 2) amplification – to stimulate the ears and brain and to prevent over compensation; 3) fractal tones – known as Zen tones, designed to relax and provide acoustic stimulation; and 4) relaxation – behavioral exercises and sleep management strategies. ZEN is available as a standalone device, Zen2Go, or is a feature available on select Widex hearing aids.
For people who need an extra boost in listening, Widex offers assistive listening devices, DEX and SCOLA. Widex ALDs include personal amplifiers, connection with phones, amplified sound through FM radio waves, and telecoils to deliver sound via electromagnetic waves through hearing loop systems.
For people who experience single-sided deafness, Widex offers a CROS hearing aid, worn in the behind-the-ear style. The CROS hearing aid picks up sounds from the wearer’s non-hearing side and mixes it with audio in the hearing ear, to provide a clear listening experience.
